sometimes it's like the song 'what a difference a day makes'. or maybe not, since i have no idea what the rest of the lyrics are. when i remember that no one else is going to come in and take care of things in my life, and i actually step up and do things, it's FUN.
i don't normally talk about work here, but i'm going to for a sec.
i got an interested reply for an offer i made to do some potentially very gratifying design and flash work. that's cool. i also came away from an informational interview today with interest on both sides - for a job that is potentially really suited to me.
the thing is, once i had one of those 'crap, it's time to get in gear!' days and did something about it, the snowball started rolling. it's so odd how that works, at least for me. pavolovian positive feedback. send out note about job, get nice reply, schedule lunch, have nice lunch, get excited, realize that you put a whole lot more brain cells to use creatively... rinse, repeat! positive feedback is like a really good dog treat. and the best thing is, it reminds me that there is probably an entire jar of treats on the counter.
i love the idea of being really challenged at work again. although there's something to be said for being able to do everything in your sleep. anyway.
it's been easier to stay put. and pretty fun. it's just time to make sure there's a life raft handy.
(wanna see my office today? i miss my window.)

have you seen this?

hmm. now i have. honestly, it's another who-cares thing. :) i don't disagree at a basic level, but on the other hand, i *like* reading other people's blogs. it's no more or less inane than the crap that went on in usenet groups in the early 90's. :)
