it's been 4 days, maybe 5, of if not frenetic then at least very busy days.
deep breath and... go!
thursday out with the girls, friday the elvis impersonator invitationals at emp and then a wacky bar with a secret back dance room that no one had previously been aware of, saturday we had brunch with douglas and ms. gaw, then boeing surplus for some really great junk and then the art store for supplies to alter said junk. worked on sanding and painting some of said junk while the boy (who lights my heart and makes everything good) contemplated his pile of screen printing purchases and began the design phase, then dinner at the local madcow chow hall and back to sanding, painting, designing, and laundry, sunday up a little late, check status of paint drying, make coffee, off to get headlights for the car as having both nearly burnt out would be BAD, went to pick up a bunch of stuff of the boy's back north to a fabric store looking for fake fur, ending up at thrift store and buying an old ratty coat of real fur (which ended up being entirely hand made and totally wacky), spend many hours last night making measurements for fur distribution on project and subsequently taking the coat apart and cutting the fur (some of it was as brittle as tissue paper). bed at 1:30 am.
hooboy. it makes work seem so... relaxing.

one of the projects in process is doing stuff to a wooden box. specifically, a really industrial hinged wooden box with handles used to ship and transport expensive plane parts. we got three or four of these in various sizes at boeing surplus. i've wanted to get some of these boxes for a very long time, ever since nate gave me one he painted years ago for my birthday. i absolutely love it.
i'm going to line the inside of the box with fur. and i really thought it would be funny to paint the outside of the box like a rabbit. funny factor two: paint the outside like a rabbits anatomy. funny factor three: cut a hole in the end of the box so you could reach inside and "pet the bunny".
i have no idea why no one else thinks this is so damned funny and marginally inspired.

Brilliant! I love the "pet the bunny" box! You should totally make one for the next 20things.org art auction! xoxo
