this continues to be a really nice christmas. after the parents go home things revert to relative normalcy. whatever that is. those who inclined pretty much immediately head outside to smoke, the 2 year old niece dances to very loud led zeppelin, and the xbox is once again fired up. that one i get a bitchin' auntie award for. along with the huge stack of games. and my 6 year old nephew has a crazy innate talent for Top Spin.

and then, well, there's the whole first christmas together thing, meeting the parents, meeting the family. it's all gone well, with minimal need for large bottles of high-proof alcohol. i knew that it would probably mean some clearer view of things. total angel that he is, he has managed my cranky mother very well, there have been no outbursts this year, for the first time in a decade maybe.

and i look at him, and there is indeed more clarity there. he's a joy, more every day. everything is growing. i look at him and i see the future.
