the song of summer for me is black cow. followed up with nearly anything by UB40. i'm not sure where the black cow thing got connected to summer, but ub40 was the soundtrack for driving around southern california with grace in my old landcruiser.

it's finally warm. the days drag by so slowly sitting inside and working. i want to be outside frolicking with buck, or having a lovely cool beverage somewhere. instead i'm in an office, sun at my back, freezing because the ac is up so high.

but really, life is good, it's beautiful weather and angst is pretty minimal (having learned that it is completely acceptable to end relationships or friendships if necessary). i have a thousand projects to do (i'm thinking of loaning out sections of my yard as a small private pea-patch - at least that way it would get cleaned up), some of which are actually fun (painting, photography, finally curating a mirror project gallery).

in other news, i picked up diva's ashes yesterday. i don't know what i'm going to do with them, but i didn't want her just 'out there'. right now her little teak box is wrapped with red string and her nametag, bell, and a little metal hand. it sits in the kitchen window box because that's where she loved to be even though she wasn't allowed. she'd be up there by the little side windows that are left open for air the minute i walked out the door, and if she was there when i came home she'd look at me out the window but wouldn't get down until i came in the door.

of course, then she'd act like she'd been asleep on the couch all day.

For me, anything Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons is summer. Not sure why, it just is.

Interesting that you'd choose a Steely Dan song.... For the past few days I've been listening to Deacon Blue's phenomenal CD "Fellow Hoodlums." Gotta love a band what names itself after a Steely Dan lyric.
