oh martha.
I still haven't managed to see Martha Stewart's daughter's TV show. I want to, however... if you're going to base a whole show on bitching about your mother you shouldn't be riding her coattails to do so. I mean, either she needs to be non-famous, or you need to have your own thing going. Otherwise you're just bitching about your meal ticket. And Colbert does that better.
Whatever.
There is no one who can style a table like the kids who work for MSL. I love it when it's simple linens with perfectly mismatched flatware and what are offhandedly simple plates which are also obviously stunning and possibly handmade. I swoon. pp 84 or 109 in the current marmalade issue (Jan 2009). So pretty.
The gestalt of that sort of photo is, I think, what drives me in my collecting of ceramics. It results in the whole being greater than the sum of the parts.
Speaking of which, the thrifted goodness pile grows. I might have to start selling some of this stuff, or having dinner parties.

I totally agree with you about the MSL thing. My secret fantasy is if I had the time and the patience, I would do every last thing in her magazines.
I love your plate! I would come to a dinner party if you had one with your beautiful mismatched plates and mismatched linens :).
