i love every tiny hair on his tiny (huge) head

monkeybaby oh monkeybaby, i loved playing with your self-generated mullet.

monkeybaby got his first haircut today. towards the end i had to tell the woman to leave well enough alone. she did not listen to me about most of what i said. whatever. i don't really think we'll be going back there. the reviews on yelp were vey accurate. she does do a good haircut (even if it's not the one you asked for) but doesn't listen, and the place is kinda dirty. he looks beautiful, but like a different baby. i've always loved playing with the long hair on the back of his head, which is gone and too short. his bangs look funny, also too short.

sigh. he's a few days away from a year and a half old, unbelievable.

he's my gorgeous snuggly love bug. last night while he was busy hugging and kissing the little girl baby who was visiting the girl baby's brother was busy tearing down sheetrock and ramming anything he could find into anything else he could find. it's funny to look at the difference. "bruno" is only 4 months older and SO different.

i don't know why the haircut even affects me. it's not like he could go into first grade never having had his hair cut.

but you'd be proud. i didn't cry.

Those early haircuts can be pretty shocking. They go in looking like babies and come out looking like boys.

Oh, he looks darling!!!

I remember when Darlene took Casey for a haircut. Not his first, but OMG! She stopped her from giving him a "flat top" in the middle. He was half done from the forehead back, and long at the neck. It was completely uneven and look like he had been shaved for surgery.

She was laughing her ass off, and telling me not to laugh when I saw him. We both howled even in spite of the damage we knew we were inflicting on his tiny, 2 1/2 year old ego. Later that day, she had to tell a woman that was staring at him in the grocery store, "it's not cancer, just a bad haircut".

Aunt Nana helped out later by taking him to a reputable salon where the beautician spoke English. I have photos somewhere...
