monkeydad just took monkeybaby and monkeydog off for a walk so i could sneak in a few minutes of work. it's HOT and humid here. as i was helping pack up needed items i found a playa stash in my car. SO monkeybaby now has a discoball on the canopy of his wagon. so. great.
as they walked off i looked at them and monkeybaby was looking up with a huge open mouth grin at his first discoball.
most of the time monkeybaby and i have a good time together. we have an understanding, mommy allows what is reasonable and monkeybaby will either stop when asked or at least not totally scream when moved away.
i read soulemama and the habit of being, i know there are pretty blogs where life is perfect.
it was decidedly unperfect around here today. on the weekends monkeybaby's nap schedule gets wonky and today he didn't have second nap and was a general pill and trying to keep him out of trouble while monkeydad put together the replacement crib (other one was recalled, this one is nice and solid and a bit deeper than the previous one) so the child and i went to the store and then attempted to eat dinner. not only did eating dinner not work (in the midst of which i also gave up on having anything put away and found it far easier to just throw all garbage and recycling on the floor, ought to do that more) it ended in me leaving mokeybaby sitting in his chair and going out to the car to cry.
upon returning monkeydad was feeding him and asked if he should give him more or something else to eat. all i could manage was "i couldn't care less". poured myself a glass of wine and went elsewhere. i haven't been that frustrated since he was 2 weeks old and i was mired in weird ppd.
sheesh. moral: do NOT fuck with the sleep schedule.
in other more normal news we got a delivery of chairs from an ebay purchase and then went out and bought some danish mid-century looking nightstands and as previously noted, picked up the new crib replacing the recalled cheapo one. despite appearances we do not have a furniture budget.
i must sleep. it's going to be a LOOOooooong week.
