i am so lame about posting lately. but here's the quick story because it's 4pm and we have to get dressed to get food from the store.

lots of projects, some freelance work work, many knitting items completed. (check the flickr photos down the right side, and there are at least 3 that aren't on there yet). on the needles currently: heather's rabbit rabbit hat, a little something for grace, the same sock, and i think that's it. i finished a felted purse for mardella, and a hat and a scarf for thanksgiving casino night prizes in the last 4-5 days.

thanksgiving was fabulous. the best stinkin meal ever! lots of good food, mostly great people, lots of fun at casino night. funniest mardi "pit boss" moment, during the prize auction: she was holding the entire stack of cash for the whole party (and money collected from the auctions thus far), and she loved the hat i knit. so she started auctioning it in a whisper then said "does anyone have more money than this? i didn't think so, the hat is mine". and that was that. michelle got the scarf. b. and i used all of our money and then some to aquire 8" tall versions of gonzo and beaker.

i think b. is making a flickr gallery of photos from thanksgiving. stay tuned. i'd like to be able to raid henry's fridge about now - that lamb sausage cornbread stuffing was the best thing ever. thanks to henry for the fabulous dining, and to mion for casino night at the lucky poodle casino!

$10 well spent

also file under things you should really buy. this ikea clock is really just the thing. for yourself, for everyone. the reason it's so damned funny is that the alarm is either a buzzer OR your own recorded message. think of the ways that you could use this. think of the ways you can surprise your houseguests. it's funny. really.

hellooooooo anyone home?

i'm taking it as a personal good sign that i'm able to step away from the blog a bit. it's not that there are a million things going on, but there's enough. there are still blog entry moments every day. the other day b. and i were driving, talking about various knitting projects i have going and because a) sometimes he mixes up words the way that i read signs wrong all the time and b) he reads not martha he said "castinets are going to be very popular this year". i looked at him in that way, and he knew what was coming... "honey, castinets are the mexican clacky things, i think you meant capelets unless megan has a secret line on something".

and grace's birthday was election day, and we worked on cleaning the basement, and we took a long walk at discovery park, and life goes on. i continue to understand what i need to do (become grand mistress flash on my own time) vs what i'd like to do (read, knit, sleep, walk the dog).

it's the same stuff. even with freelance projects and work, not going to an office everyday eventually puts you in a different head space. not to mention income bracket. it's time to step it all up - and it has been. right after i finish b.'s hat.

oh, ok. knitting update: unraveled b.'s hat with the intent of re-knitting with the same yarn only so it would actually fit. i decided that i didn't like that yarn (it was my first project after not knitting for many years). so, it just stayed unravled. there are only pics for posterity now. finished his scarf, finished my scarf, made a felted purse, and i have about 10 minutes left on the replacement hat. after that a hat for me, and the socks that are half done. and needles for shelley. and grace's bday present (not knitting). etc etc.

see, i'm still out here.

you can email me instead

the comments are off again. i will pursue how to have them on and avoid the spambots. for the moment i'm tired of deleting crap comments.
